What is 30A?
Known as the “Emerald Coast,” 30A is a collection of small, unique, beautiful Florida beach towns between the busy regions of Panama City Beach and Destin. The beach communities of Rosemary Beach, Seaside, Aly’s Beach, and Santa Rosa Beach are among the prominent towns dotting this route. Each town is unique and filled with activities such as live music, shopping, dining, community events, beach activities, biking, fishing, parks, state forests, dune preserves, and more. Our guide aims to help you find the perfect 30A community for your vacation needs. From the distinctive architecture to the vibrant local culture, each 30A community has something special to offer, making the Emerald Coast a truly exceptional destination.

History of Its Name
The scenic highway 30A gets its name from a 26-mile road that meanders along Florida’s Emerald Coast on the Gulf of Mexico. The Federal Highway Administration recognized its beauty and added Scenic Highway 30A to its list of elite scenic routes in America. To the north of Scenic 30A is the Choctawhatchee Bay, creating a unique geographical setting with the Gulf of Mexico to the south and the bay to the north. This area includes world-renowned towns such as Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Grayton Beach, and Alys Beach, among others. Interestingly, despite encompassing 15 unique beach communities, 30A falls within just two zip codes. Miramar Beach lies to the west of 30A, and beyond that is the busy city of Destin. One of the unique features of this scenic route is the presence of 15 rare coastal dune lakes, which are found in only a few places worldwide.
What Towns are on 30A?
Starting from the east end of the 30A corridor and moving westward, you will encounter numerous charming beach towns. Inlet Beach marks the beginning, followed by the sophisticated Rosemary Beach, the tranquil Seacrest Beach, and the luxurious Aly’s Beach. WaterSound and Seagrove Beach soon follow, leading you to the beautiful Seaside and WaterColor communities. Grayton Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, and Gulf Place come next, each offering its own unique vibe. As you continue, you will reach Dune Allen Beach, Sandestin, and Miramar Beach. If you venture a bit north, you can explore Santa Rosa Beach, Point Washington, Freeport, and WaterSound Origins.
